Exhibition Announcement: Touching the Past
On the occasion of the solemn celebration of the Military Museum Day, the exhibition "Touching the Past" will be opened in the gallery of the Military Museum on Kalemegdan on August 21 at 1:30 p.m.
The Military Museum was founded by the Decree of Prince Milan Obrenović on August 22, 1878, at the proposal of the Minister of War, Sava Grujić, and this year marks the 148th anniversary of its founding.
The exhibition "Touching the Past" presents the conservation and restoration efforts of the Military Museum to the public, through 74 museum objects, which have been restored to their former glory and which have been preserved only thanks to the development of the Military Museum's conservation and restoration practice, which goes beyond the national framework of cultural heritage.
The most significant museum objects that will be displayed are: the Gladius Sword, the Albanian Monument, the Dolma of King Aleksandar Karađorđević, the General's Helmet from the period of Prince Milan Obrenović, the Sculpture "Kojekude Karađorđe", the Artistic Painting on Canvas "Judith" and a large number of weapons, objects made of leather, metal and fabric, and special frames with woodcuts.
